Armenia outperforms Georgia, Azerbaijan, and Iran in the World Bank's Human Capital Index (HCI+), according to World Bank data.
YEREVAN, July 22. /ARKA/. Armenia outperforms Georgia, Azerbaijan, and Iran in the World Bank's Human Capital Index (HCI+), according to World Bank data.
Armenia's score is 224 out of a theoretically possible 325. For comparison, Georgia's score is 215, Azerbaijan's is 208, and Iran's is 180. Thus, Armenia outperforms Georgia by 9 points, Azerbaijan by 16 points, and Iran by 44 points.
The country's score is below the Europe and Central Asia regional average of 240. However, it exceeds the average score of 204 for upper-middle-income countries.
According to the World Bank, Armenia's score reflects the country's investment in healthcare, education, and labor force participation. The potential for further improvement is 101 points.
Each 10-point increase in the HCI+, which can be achieved through targeted public policy reforms, can correspond to an approximately 10% increase in future income.
According to the World Bank, Armenia's HCI+ score was approximately 222 points in 2024.
The HCI+ is an expanded version of the Human Capital Index and takes into account not only the accumulation of knowledge and the health status of the population, but also the degree to which human capital is utilized in the labor market.
