YEREVAN, June 22. /ARKA/. The water level of Lake Sevan has risen by 50 cm since the beginning of 2026, reports the Hydrometeorology and Monitoring Center of the Armenian Ministry of Environment.
According to the center, as of June 21, the water level in Sevan was 1900.72 meters above sea level, equal to the level on the same date last year.
It is noted that after a negative deviation since June 9, 2025, the difference was compensated for by abundant precipitation and river inflow.
Lake Sevan is the main source of fresh water in Armenia and one of the largest high-altitude lakes in Europe and Asia. It is located at an altitude of approximately 1900 meters above sea level. The Hrazdan River originates from Sevan, and 28 rivers flow into the lake.
According to the state program for the restoration of Sevan's ecosystem, the lake's water level is planned to be raised to an optimal level of 1903.5 meters.
