Substituting supplies from Armenia will not create difficulties for Russia, stated Russian Minister of Economic Development Maxim Reshetnikov.
YEREVAN, July 31. /ARKA/. Substituting supplies from Armenia will not create difficulties for Russia, stated Russian Minister of Economic Development Maxim Reshetnikov.
Commenting on Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's statement about seeking alternatives to relations with Russia in the economic and political spheres, Reshetnikov noted that the significance of Armenian supplies for the markets of other Eurasian Economic Union countries is not significant.
"Armenia's share of Russia's total trade turnover with the world does not exceed 0.9%. For other EAEU countries, this figure is even lower: for Belarus it is 0.3%, Kazakhstan 0.05%, and Kyrgyzstan 0.02%. It will not be difficult for us to substitute Armenian supplies," TASS quotes Reshetnikov as saying.
According to Armstat, Russia remains Armenia's largest foreign trade partner. Armenian-Russian trade turnover in January-May 2026 amounted to $2.2 billion, a 20.5% decrease compared to the same period in 2025. Exports from Armenia to Russia decreased by 3% to $1.03 billion, while imports from Russia fell by 30.6% to $1.22 billion.
By the end of 2025, Armenian-Russian trade turnover amounted to $7.66 billion, a 38.3% decrease.
