Food prices in Armenia increased by 6.4% year-on-year in August, and decreased by 1% month-on-month

YEREVAN, September 4. /ARKA/. Food and non-alcoholic beverage prices increased by 6.4% in August 2026 compared to August 2025, and decreased by 1% compared to July of this year. This is according to data from the Statistical Committee of Armenia.

Bakery and cereal prices increased by 2.6% year-on-year in August, and by 0.1% month-on-month.

Rice - 4.7% compared to August 2025 (- 0.2% compared to July 2026)

Wheat groats + 12.6% (+ 1%)

Buckwheat + 10.1% (+ 1.6%)

Flour + 3.1% (- 0.4%)

Bread + 1.9% (+ 0.2%)

Pasta + 6.8% (- 0.2%)

Lobi - 4.5% (- 0.9%)

Lentils - 3.2% (+ 0.1%)

Peas + 1.6% (- 0.3%)

Meat prices increased by 10.8% year-on-year in August, and fell by 0.1% compared to July. Beef + 22.6% (- 0.2%)
Pork + 0.1% (- 1.5%)

Lamb and mutton + 15.5% (0%)

Poultry (chicken) + 3.3% (- 0.1%)

Fish and seafood prices in August 2026 decreased by 8.9% compared to August 2025, and by 6.8% compared to July. Fresh trout - 12.7% (- 7.6%)

Prices in the "Dairy Products, Cheese, and Eggs" group increased by 11.8% year-on-year in August, and by 0.1% month-on-month.

Cottage cheese + 7.2% (0%)

Eggs + 27.4% (- 0.2%)

Products in the "Oils and Fats" group increased in price by 2.3% year-on-year, and fell by 0.5% compared to July.

Butter - 2% (- 0.8%)

Sunflower oil + 8.8% (- 0.2%)

Fruit increased in price by 10.5% year-on-year in August, and fell by 3.5%.

In the "Vegetables" group, prices increased by 0.4% year-on-year and decreased by 5.3% compared to July.

In the "Sugar, Fruit Puree, Honey, Syrups, Chocolate, and Sugar Confectionery" group, prices increased by 4.6% year-on-year in August and by 0.4% month-on-month.

Sugar and granulated sugar + 2.3% (- 0.7%)

Chocolate increased by + 6.3% (- 0.3%)

In the "Coffee, Tea, and Cocoa" group, prices increased by 5.7% in August this year compared to August last year and by 0.8% compared to July.

Coffee + 5.4% (+ 0.8%)

Tea + 5.9% (+ 0.3%)

Cocoa + 18.2% (+ 0.8%). Prices for mineral, spring, and bottled drinking water increased by 3.5% year-on-year and 0.2% month-on-month in August.

Of alcoholic beverages, vodka increased in price by 11% year-on-year and 0.5% month-on-month in August, wine by 0.9% year-on-year and 0.3% month-on-month, and beer by 4.2% and 0.6%, respectively.

Tobacco products increased in price by 7% year-on-year and 0.1% month-on-month in August.

Food products not included in other groups increased in price by 4.3% in August 2026 compared to August 2025, and by 0.2% compared to July of this year. Meanwhile, in the non-food market, prices increased by 2.4% in August 2026 compared to August 2025, and by 0.4% compared to July.

In Armenia, inflation in August 2026 compared to August 2025 was 4.4%, and compared to July of this year, prices increased by 0.2%.
