YEREVAN, July 10. /ARKA/. Iran's newly-appointed ambassador to Armenia Mehdi Sobhani has assumed his duties, Iran's IRNA news agency reported.

It said before leaving for Armenia, the ambassador met with Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian, who reiterated the Iranian government's policy of prioritizing relations with neighboring countries.

Previously, Sobhani served as Second Secretary of the Iranian Embassy in Azerbaijan, Vice Ambassador to Ukraine and Turkmenistan, Consul General in Karachi, Iranian Ambassador to Syria, Deputy Director General for West Asia and Director General for Strategic Affairs of the Iranian Foreign Ministry. -0-
