Armenia to change oath for government members

At its session on Monday, the National Assembly of Armenia adopted amendments to the law "On the Structure and Activities of the Government" in the first reading, proposing changes to the oath for government members.
YEREVAN, September 14. /ARKA/. At its session on Monday, the National Assembly of Armenia adopted amendments to the law "On the Structure and Activities of the Government" in the first reading, proposing changes to the oath for government members.
61 deputies voted in favor, 35 voted against, and 0 abstained. The second reading will be held under a special procedure, within 24 hours.
Earlier, RA Minister of Justice Srbuhi Galyan stated that the proposed changes to the oath are due to the fact that the current version does not fully reflect issues of the long-term existence of the state, responsibility to future generations, and the strengthening and development of statehood.
"The new version proposes using the phrase 'In the name of the longevity, sovereignty, and development of the Republic of Armenia.' These concepts are intended to reflect the foundations of Armenian statehood, the principles of democratic governance, and the constitutional mission of a member of the government," Galyan noted.
