The Yerevan Municipality has established special procurement and construction rules for the construction of the new, 11th station of the Yerevan metro, Ajapnyak, announced Aneta Babayan, adviser to the mayor.

According to her, the Armenian government has adopted a special decision in connection with the implementation of the project.
"These special conditions will allow the integration of best international contract management practices into current Armenian procurement legislation. As a result, tenders for construction work and technical supervision will be conducted in accordance with internationally recognized rules," Babayan said at a working meeting at the Municipality on Monday. However, she did not specify the specific special conditions and rules.
In turn, Yerevan Mayor Tigran Avinyan ordered the preparation of technical specifications for technical supervision services within two weeks.
Construction of the Ajapnyak metro station was previously scheduled to begin in 2024, but was later postponed to the end of 2025 and later to 2026.
The 2025 city budget allocated 9.6 billion drams for this program, but this amount was later reduced to 1.4 billion drams. According to Avinyan, part of the funds under this program was allocated for the purchase of 45 new 12-meter trolleybuses.
The draft 2026 city budget additionally allocates 2 billion drams.
