Pashinyan sets goal of returning $2 billion in illicit assets to the country by 2031

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated that between 2026 and 2031, approximately $2 billion worth of illicit assets should be returned to the state and communities.
YEREVAN, August 6. /ARKA/. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated that between 2026 and 2031, approximately $2 billion worth of illicit assets should be returned to the state and communities.
"We are setting this goal in the government's program. I consider it realistic, since the system for confiscating illicit assets has begun to function fully," Pashinyan said at a government meeting on Thursday.
According to the prime minister, all legally prescribed mechanisms are planned to be utilized to achieve this goal.
Armenian Prosecutor General Anna Vardapetyan, for her part, reported that, within the confiscation mechanism alone, the value of assets returned to date is estimated at 6.3 billion drams (approximately $17.2 million).
"Currently, there are 172 lawsuits pending in the courts regarding illegally acquired property alone, with claims totaling 628.8 billion drams. In addition, we are demanding the seizure of 1,486 real estate properties, 371 movable property, participation in 464 legal entities, and monetary funds totaling 464.6 billion drams," Vardapetyan noted.
