Pashinyan orders development of investment program to stimulate wheat production in Armenia

The results of the wheat value chain study and opportunities to stimulate its production were discussed during meetings chaired by Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, the government press service reported.
YEREVAN, July 8. /ARKA/. The results of the wheat value chain study and opportunities to stimulate its production were discussed during meetings chaired by Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, the government press service reported.
Economy Minister Gevorg Papoyan presented a detailed analysis of wheat production and import volumes, self-sufficiency levels, and wheat yield indicators, addressing key production issues, quality assessment, and storage issues. After presenting the analysis results and identified problems, the Minister of Economy made proposals aimed at addressing the issues raised.
During the discussion, the importance of introducing effective mechanisms aimed at improving the wheat value chain, as well as taking steps in line with current developments and latest trends in the sector, was emphasized. The need to adopt a strategy for intensive wheat cultivation was also noted.
Emphasizing the importance of stimulating wheat production, Pashinyan instructed officials to map unused agricultural land suitable for wheat cultivation, develop a draft investment program, and submit it for discussion.
