One of the largest companies producing cement in Armenia “Mika Cement” sustained losses by 15-20% in 2011, said General Director of the company Naira Martirosyan to the journalists.
YEREVAN, November 21. /ARKA/. One of the largest companies producing cement in Armenia “Mika Cement” sustained losses by 15-20% in 2011, said General Director of the company Naira Martirosyan to the journalists.

“This year production of cement reduced due to the decrease of activeness in construction sphere which is conditioned by global economic crisis and reduction of prices for construction material in the world market”, she said.

She said that the company is mainly producing for domestic market, and by the end of the year it is planned to reach the production volume to 120-130 thousand tons of cement.

“Our goal is to produce products in demand, including oversees markets, but there is a serious problem with transportation”, said Martirosyan.

With the product of “Mika Cement” are interested in Russia, particularly for construction works of olimpic sites in Sochi, but due to the problems with railway transportation, mainly delays, the company can not export its product.

“Mika Cement” cjsc is a company established on the basis of Hrazdan cement plant. The plant operates since 1970 as a structural sub-division of Hrazdan mining-chemical factory which in 1977 was reorganized into Hrazdan cement plant. The product of the plant was used in Armenia in almost all construction sites having a great importance, and was exported to Caucasus and Russia in large quantities.

In 2001 the plant was privatized and renamed “Mika Cement” cjsc.

“Mika Cement” cjsc is located in the city Hrazdan, Republic of Armenia which has a territory of 540 thousand square meters. It is equipped with two technological lines with the capacity of 1.2 million tons of cement annually. -0-
