YEREVAN, June 11. /ARKA/. Rosselkhoznadzor will restrict the import of all quarantine products originating and shipped from Armenia, as well as their transit through Russia to EAEU member states, the agency's press service reported, effective June 12, 2026.

The ban will remain in effect until a specific algorithm for ensuring the safety and traceability of shipped goods is developed.

The decision was made due to the systematic detection of quarantine organisms. Beginning in May of this year, the Service gradually restricted the import of certain types of Armenian quarantine products and repeatedly sent information to the Armenian side about supply disruptions.

However, detections of quarantine organisms continue. In June, three cases of khapra beetle infestation were detected in nuts, dried peaches, and dried tomatoes imported from Armenia. "This indicates insufficient oversight by Armenia's authorized body and raises concerns about the phytosanitary certification system. The ineffectiveness of the Armenian Plant Protection and Quarantine Service threatens the phytosanitary well-being of Russia and the EAEU," the statement reads.
The khapra beetle is a quarantine polyphagous pest of stored grain, absent from Russia. It damages grain and its processed products and can infest warehouses, mills, and food processing plants, destroying up to 70% of stored products. Its spread threatens crop losses, costs associated with eliminating outbreaks, and risks to grain exports.

Restrictions on product imports from Armenia to Russia

Rosselkhoznadzor has imposed temporary restrictions on the import of a number of products from Armenia, citing "increasing violations of phytosanitary requirements of the EAEU and Russia." Restrictions applied to flowers and food products starting May 22; fresh tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, greens, and strawberries starting May 30; fresh grapes and stone fruits (cherries, sweet cherries, apricots, plums, peaches, and nectarines) starting June 2; and pome fruits, eggplants, potatoes, and dried fruits starting June 3.

Rosselkhoznadzor also stated that, starting June 2, Armenia must suspend veterinary certification of live fish and fish products from all Armenian companies to Russian recipients, with the exception of two enterprises that passed inspection.

Furthermore, Rospotrebnadzor suspended the import and circulation in Russia of all batches of Jermuk mineral water from Armenia, as well as wine and cognac from three Armenian producers.
