Armenia’s position in Doing Business Index drops by 9 notches

Armenia’s standing in the annual World Bank’s Doing Business 2018 report has dropped by 9 notches to the 47th position among the 190 countries embraced in the study.
YEREVAN, October 31. /ARKA/. Armenia’s standing in the annual World Bank’s Doing Business 2018 report has dropped by 9 notches to the 47th position among the 190 countries embraced in the study.
In the previous report Armenia was on the 38th position, and a year earlier it was 43rd. Armenia is ahead of Azerbaijan (65th), Kyrgyzstan (75th), Ukraine (80th), Uzbekistan (87th) and Tajikistan (128th). Georgia is the only former Soviet republic, which is in the top ten of the WB rating, having moved to the 9th place. Russia is ranked 35th, Kazakhstan is 36th, Belarus is 38th and Moldova is 44th.
According to the World Bank, the ranking is topped by New Zealand, Singapore and Denmark. South Korea and Hong Kong followed Denmark to complete the top five, while the US, the UK, Norway, Georgia and Sweden completed the top 10. Somalia finished rock bottom, just behind Eritrea, Venezuela, South Sudan and Yemen.
The index ranks countries 1-190 based on 10 indicators: Starting a Business, Dealing with Construction Permits, Getting Electricity, Registering Property, Getting Credit, Protecting Minority Investors, Paying Taxes, Trading Across Borders, Enforcing Contracts, and Resolving Insolvency. -0-
