YEREVAN, September 11. /ARKA/. Gagik Tsarukyan, the head of the Tsarukyan bloc in the Armenian parliament, commented on the opposition Yelk bloc’s demand that Armenia should leave the Russia-led Eurasian Economic Union (EEU). On Saturday Yelk decided to submit a bill to the National Assembly demanding that Armenia walks out of EEU.
Speaking to reporters today Tsarukyan said it is not clear in exchange for what some forces offer termination of Armenia’s membership in EEU. He noted that his party does not refuse to discuss such initiatives. "I told our party members to take part in all discussions on this issue, no matter which party raises them," Tsarukyan stressed.
According to him, the withdrawal does not guarantee new investments for Armenian economy and improvement of the quality of life. "We need to act wisely in this matter," Tsarukyan added.
Armenia became a full-fledged member of the EEU in January 2, 2015. At present, the organization also includes Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan. -0-
