YEREVAN, October 5, /ARKA/. Mark Zuckerberg’s personal wealth has fallen by more than $6 billion in a few hours, knocking him down a notch on the list of the world’s richest people, after outages took Facebook Inc.’s flagship products offline, Interfax reported citing Bloomberg.

A selloff sent the social-media giant’s stock plummeting 4.9% on Monday, adding to a drop of about 15% since mid-September.

The stock slide on Monday sent Zuckerberg’s worth down to $121.6 billion, dropping him below Bill Gates to No. 5 on the Bloomberg’s Billionaires Index. He’s down from almost $140 billion in a matter of weeks, according to the index.

Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp went offline at around 11 a.m. on Monday, and the outages persisted past the closing bell. Meanwhile, speculation swirled over the possibility of a widespread hack at the social media giant.

Facebook Chief Technology Officer Mike Schroepfer took to Twitter during the outages to say, "Sincere apologies to everyone impacted by outages of Facebook powered services right now. We are experiencing networking issues and teams are working as fast as possible to debug and restore as fast as possible." Facebook announced it was back online at around 6:30 p.m. EST.-0-
