The budget of Armenian Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports is set to increase by 27% in 2022
YEREVAN, October 25. /ARKA/. The budget of the Armenian Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports is set to increase by 27% in 2022, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said today when presenting the draft budget for 2022 to lawmakers in the parliament.
Earlier, the government said that next year the financing of education, science, culture and sports will amount to 223.3 billion drams.
Pashinyan said today that the government plans to build 300 schools and 500 kindergartens in the next 5 years. He noted that 76 schools and 51 kindergartens are being now build, reconstructed or overhauled.
"To ensure the longevity of our country, long-term investments in science and education are needed, which is an extremely important priority for us," Pashinyan said.
According to the Prime Minister, in 2022, 83% more funds will be allocated to science alone, and funding for scientific research will be 2.5 times more than last year, growing up to 6.7 billion drams.
"Our goal is to make learning and personal development a way of life. This is the only way to become a competitive nation in the modern world. The development of science and technology is a logical continuation of this process, and here the government is already introducing new funding formulas," he said.
The draft budget of the government designed for 2022 calls for 1 trillion 946 billion drams in revenue, which is by 17% more in comparison with 2021, and by 25% more in comparison with 2020.
The spending is set at 2 trillion 190 billion drams, which is by 10% more than in 2021 and by 16% more that in 2020. ($1 - 476.48 drams) --0--
