Single operator will regulate digital gaming industry in Armenia

YEREVAN, February 4. /ARКА/. A single entity will oversee the digital gaming sector in Armenia, as stated by Rafael Gevorgyan, Deputy Head of the State Revenue Committee.

The National Assembly Committee on Economic Affairs approved the necessary amendments and additions to the Law "On Regulation of Gaming Activities" and several related laws, which had been reviewed in the first reading, on Wednesday.

Gevorgyan mentioned that the State Revenue Committee has established an inter-agency commission to conduct a competition for selecting a gaming operator. This operator is anticipated to be contracted for a 15-year period and will manage the digital regulation of the gaming system.

"A digital infrastructure will be developed that integrates all operators and organizers of gaming activities, including both online platforms and physical gaming establishments," he remarked during the committee meeting.

The Deputy Head of the State Revenue Committee emphasized that the implementation of this system will provide the government with centralized information regarding all transactions in the industry, encompassing gambling bets, winnings, and losses.

He pointed out that the State Revenue Committee currently does not possess a comprehensive set of such data, and the adoption of digital tools in the gambling sector is still inadequate, which prompted the initiation of this process.-0-
