Armenian government releases additionally $5.25 millions for modernizing research equipment and encouraging young scientists
YEREVAN, April 8. /ARKA/. The Armenian government has approved today the additional release of 2 billion 784 million drams (about $5.25 million) for modernization of the scientific sector's infrastructure and encouraging young scientists.
According to Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Zhanna Andreasyan, some 1 billion 31 million drams will be spent on acquisition of modern equipment for scientific institutions with high productivity, as well as to retrain personnel for working with new equipment.
According to her, this will provide a basis for full-fledged scientific experimental research, which is supposed to improve the quality of research and create an opportunity for its high-quality practical application, which is important for the development of the economy.
She said scientific consortia will be created so that the equipment is used jointly for research and in educational processes.
In her words, some 114.4 million drams of the amount will be spent on the re-equipment of the National Academy of Sciences, including the delivery and installation of a supercomputer, which is necessary for analyzing big data.
The other portion of the money -1 billion 638 million drams- will be used to finance a string of thematic researches, including research in dual-use areas, which is important for security and improving defense capabilities of the country.
Deputy Prime Minister Tigran Avinyan added that about 40% of the scientific community are people over 60, and the change of generations is important. To that end in 2022-2025 the rates of their basic salaries will be revised upward. -- 0--
