YEREVAN, January 10. /ARKA/. Armenian Deputy Prime Minister Tigran Avinyan chaired a government discussion on January 9 that looked into the country's energy security.

Avinyan was quoted by the government press office as saying  that in view of the latest developments in the region  it is very important to assess, analyze and understand all the risks and dangers that may arise for the energy security of Armenia, and determine also ways to neutralize them.

The focus in the discussion was said to have been on such issues as energy self-sufficiency, increasing the reliability of power supply, introducing new infrastructures, and ensuring a stable electric power network.

The Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructures and other government agencies presented probable scenarios of how the developments may unwrap  and the steps, which must be carried out under each of the scenarios, and the sequence of actions.

The participants of the meeting said in the end of the discussion that Armenia is ready for any development of events, and the government is capable of ensuring the self-sufficient and sovereign activity of the energy system. -0-
