YEREVAN, September 4. /ARKA/. Armenian Deputy Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure Armen Simonyan told an online press conference today that the government has drafted a set of legislative changes in the procedure for technical inspection of vehicles, including a tighter inspection of vehicles operating on liquefied or compressed natural gas.
According to him, the changes will be considered for the first time on September 9 by a standing parliamentary commission. He said under the proposed changes, vehicles up to 4 years old will be exempt from technical inspection, vehicles up to 10 years old will have to undergo technical inspection once every two years, and older vehicles - once a year.
He said the amendments call for introduction of an electronic control system, which will replace the so-called paper "technical inspection coupon, which are attached to the windshield of the car.
According to the Deputy Minister, these coupons are fictitious, since they can be obtained from the bank by paying the appropriate fee and simply glued to the windshield without going through a real technical inspection.
He said also all vehicles operating on compressed or liquefied natural gas will have to undergo certification every two years. According to him, after passing the check, the car owner will be provided with a document stating that the gas cylinder of their cars are safe to operate. --0--
