Armenia and Japan to cooperate in nuclear energy safety
YEREVAN, July 27. /ARKA/. Armenian President Armen Sarkissian, who is in Japan on a working visit, visited the Japan's Nuclear Regulation Authority and met with its President Fuketa Toyoshi, Sarkissian’s press office reported.
It said Sarkissian and Toyoshi discussed a set of issues regarding cooperation in the field of nuclear safety.
The head of the Japanese Nuclear Regulation Authority was said to have expressed readiness to cooperate with Armenia, noting that in Japan they constantly equip nuclear power plants with new equipment, adapting them to risks, and their experience in this area can be instructive and useful for partners.
Concerning the areas of cooperation, the parties highlighted regulation of nuclear safety, nuclear fuel, nuclear waste management, as well as joint research in the field of nuclear physics. For the development of cooperation, the sides will have e mutual visits and exchange programs for specialists. -0-
