Armenia will have to deal with failed electric vehicle batteries in the future
YEREVAN, September 24. /ARKA/. Armenia will encounter the challenge of managing failed electric vehicle batteries in the future, said Deputy Environment Minister Ara Mkrtchyan during a parliamentary discussion on amending the Law on Waste.
"Electric vehicles have a significantly positive effect on the environment; however, their batteries, once they reach the end of their lifespan, necessitate effective management to avert harmful consequences," Mkrtchyan remarked on Wednesday.
"The Armenian government, foreseeing the impending issue, is currently developing a relevant strategy for an action plan aimed at effective battery management. We have previously faced the issue of batteries in traditional vehicles—when they failed, they were discarded, leading to environmental harm. For electric vehicle batteries, the primary goal is their recycling," Mkrtchyan stated.-0-
