YEREVAN, November 6. /ARKA/. The new chief architect of Yerevan Arthur Meschyan promised a tough fight against illegal construction in the capital when speaking at a press conference today.
"I would like to tell the residents of the city that illegal construction and appropriation of land has ended. There will be no more legalization of illegal constructions. I promise that if you decide to carry out construction by legal means, then we will do our best to make your life easier," Meschyan promised.
He also addressed those citizens who are about to start illegal construction, saying they are going to face serious problems if they do not give up their plans.
Meschyan also stated that a new approach is needed in the city architectural policy. In particular, he believes that a special status should be assigned to the center of Yerevan.
"We are closely exploring those construction projects that are planned to be implemented in Yerevan. We have inherited an interesting legacy, in particular, in the recent period, permissions were given to such architectural structures that are shocking. The problem is that I have no authority to cancel already approved projects and return the land allocated to them," he said. -0-
