Yerevan municipality to replace 500 elevators this year

The Yerevan Municipality will replace this year 500 outdated elevators in high-rise residential buildings, five times more than originally planned, Hakob Karapetyan, municipality's press secretary, said in a Facebook post.
YEREVAN, January 13. /ARKA/. The Yerevan Municipality will replace this year 500 outdated elevators in high-rise residential buildings, five times more than originally planned, Hakob Karapetyan, municipality's press secretary, said in a Facebook post.
He said the decision to revise the number of elevators to be replaced was made by mayor Hayk Marutyan. He said the replacement will be financed by the money that was saved on the municipality’s procurements.
Karapetyan said also that the new elevators are adapted for use by people with visual, hearing and motor impairments.
In general, according to the city administration, about 3,500 elevators are subject to replacement in the city. According to the mayor’s office, today in Yerevan there are more than 4,400 elevators, most of which were installed in 1956-1993. -0-
