The Yerevan Municipality has begun the long-awaited replacement of outdated elevators in high-rise residential buildings, Hakob Karapetyan, spokesman for the municipality, said in a Facebook post.
YEREVAN, November 24. /ARKA/. The Yerevan Municipality has begun the long-awaited replacement of outdated elevators in high-rise residential buildings, Hakob Karapetyan, spokesman for the municipality, said in a Facebook post.
He said the first pilot stage embraces as many as 20 high-rise residential buildings in all ten administrative districts of the Armenian capital city. He said also the new elevators are equipped with special clips for visually impaired people, sound notification system, and convenient devices for use by people in wheelchairs.
Karapetyan said that some 70% of elevators in Yerevan are over 40 years old and about 3,500 elevators are to be replaced. He said the replacement of the rest of the elevators will be financed by borrowed funds. -0-
