Yerevan Mayor Demands Tighter Control Over Public Transport Fare Collection
YEREVAN, December 15. /ARKA/. Yerevan Mayor Tigran Avinyan stated that there is a clear public demand for stricter controls over public transport fare collection.

"People write to me and tell me that many people, mostly young people, are deliberately evading payment," Avinyan said at a working meeting at City Hall on Monday.

He demanded that City Hall staff take concrete steps in this direction. "I know that new inspectors will be hired in December to more effectively organize enforcement," Avinyan said.

Acting Head of the Public Order Protection Service of the Yerevan Municipality, Avetik Babayan, presented data on the number of public transport ticket validations for the past week:
- Trolleybuses: 92,161
- Metro: 547,663
- Buses: 1,872,321.

In total, 2,512,145 tickets were validated; this represents a positive difference of 5,934 tickets, a 2.4% increase compared to the previous week.

He noted that 24 new employees will be hired in December to more effectively organize enforcement.
