Yerevan City Hall reports on progress on construction of a new landfill

YEREVAN, December 15. /ARКА/. Anetta Babayan, an advisor to the Yerevan Mayor, reported on the progress of an investment program aimed at constructing a new landfill.

She stated that there has been "significant progress" in this area.

"We have started collaborating with the government, particularly the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure, as well as the EBRD, to push forward Yerevan's investment program as part of the regional and national 'Integrated Waste Management Strategy,'" Babayan mentioned during a working meeting at the Yerevan City Hall on Monday.

She indicated that a tender will soon be announced to choose an international consultant for the program.

"The plans involve creating a feasibility study, aiding in the development of a public investment program, preparing procurement documentation packages, and supporting the procurement process. The consulting work is expected to last 22 weeks," Babayan added.

She expressed optimism that the tender processes would commence in 2026, prior to the completion of loan agreement negotiations.

Sirarpi Haykazyan, the Acting Head of the Nature Protection Department at Yerevan City Hall, also shared plans to create an investment package for building a recycling plant for waste.

"The package has already been initiated; a tender will be announced next, allowing investors to submit their proposals to the mayor's office within 60 days," Haykazyan noted.

She revealed that the waste recycling plant is intended to be constructed on the site of the Nubarashen landfill located on the outskirts of Yerevan. It will feature waste sorting lines and various other functionalities.-0-
