Some 2,285 requests for medical services under universal health insurance system registered
YEREVAN, January 5. /ARKA/. As of 1:00 PM on Monday, January 5, a total of 2,285 requests for medical services have been recorded under the universal health insurance system that was launched in Armenia on January 1, as announced by Health Minister Anahit Avanesyan.
"We are in constant touch with citizens and medical organizations via the Ministry of Health's hotline, call center, and Telegram group with healthcare professionals to swiftly address current issues and offer necessary support," Avanesyan shared on her Facebook page.
The Minister also mentioned that the hotline number for the Ministry of Health is 8003, the call center can be reached at 88666, and the ArMed electronic healthcare system number is 011202033.
During the initial phase of the three-year (2026-2028) mandatory health insurance reform, 1.7 million residents of Armenia will be enrolled in the system, with the state covering 100% of their costs.
The system will consist of two groups: those whose insurance is funded by the state—minors under 18; individuals aged 65 and older; individuals aged 18-65 with disabilities (categories I, II, III); and families with 28 or more social deprivation points.
In the second phase, beginning in 2027, individuals earning up to 200,000 drams will be included in the system, followed by other groups, including agricultural workers and their families, starting in 2028.
The annual cost of the health insurance package will be 129,600 drams, payable monthly.
The insurance will encompass the most sought-after services, such as outpatient care, clinic visits, family doctor consultations, specialist appointments, and laboratory tests (a specified number per year). The range of services will be broadened and fine-tuned, including certain surgical procedures, especially ophthalmological (cataracts), cardiovascular, and others.
The 2026 budget allocates 127 billion drams for the rollout of the health insurance system.-0-
