Opposition disagrees with optimization of Yerevan Municipality personnel
YEREVAN, February 14. /ARKA/. A draft decision presented today by the Civil Contract party that enjoys majority in the Yerevan Council of Elders (legislative assembly), calls for optimization of personnel of the municipality.
First Deputy Mayor Levon Hovhannisyan said at today's meeting of the Council of Elders that a number of positions would be cut, while new staff would be hired for newly created vacancies, which are supposed to increase the efficiency of work.
He said some 90 people would be laid off , but eventually their number would amount to 38. Nonetheless, this would enable the municipality to save 4.5mln drams (a little more than $11,000) annually.
The opposition faction in the Council of Elders disagreed with plans to create vacancies of assistants for heads of administrative districts and additional vacancies of assistant deputy mayors, of whom there are five at the moment.
The opposition claimed that the ruling majority is creating new vacancies for their cronies. However, this did not hinder the ruling majority to push the decision through. The opposition voted against it. -0-
