YEREVAN, January 22. /ARKA/. All passengers who are arriving in Armenia have their temperature measured at the border, Health Minister Arsen Torosyan told a Q&A parliament session today, when asked what his ministry was doing in connection with the discovery of a new coronavirus in China.
According to media reports, as of Wednesday, the number of confirmed cases of infection with a new type of coronavirus in China reached 440, nine people died.
"One case has been recorded in the United States. This is a known type of virus, but an unknown subspecies. Measures are now being taken to create a vaccine and develop treatment methods," Torosyan said, noting that no cases of infection were recorded in Armenia.
At the same time, the minister noted that there is no need for special treatment, which is carried out in the same way as with other viral diseases. “There is no need to close the borders,” he said.
The World Health Organization (WHO) was poised to declare the outbreak a public health emergency in a meeting in Geneva this afternoon. China's National Health Commission has urged travelers to not visit Wuhan, which is home to 11million people. -0-
