Investigative Committee opens criminal case into wounding of serviceman
YEREVAN, August 26. /ARKA/. The Armenian Investigative Committee has commenced a criminal investigation concerning the gunshot wounding of a serviceman.
According to Anush Shahverdyan, the Head of the Information and Public Relations Department of the Investigative Committee, the case has been opened under Part 1 of Article 527 of the Criminal Code, which pertains to causing harm to health (self-mutilation), simulating illness, or employing other illegal methods to evade military service or to cease fulfilling specific duties.
“A preliminary investigation is currently in progress,” Shahverdyan stated. Earlier today, the Defense Ministry reported that the serviceman who sustained a gunshot wound underwent emergency surgery and was subsequently transported to the Central Clinical Military Hospital. There is no danger to the serviceman’s life.-0-
