Hailstorms damage from 20 to 70% of crops

Powerful hailstorms earlier this month caused severe damage to four communities of Armavir province, seven communities of Kotayk province, three communities of Lori province and four communities in Tavush province, Armenian minister of agriculture Sergo Karapetyan said on June 8.

Powerful hailstorms earlier this month caused severe damage to four communities of Armavir province, seven communities of Kotayk province, three communities of Lori province and four communities in Tavush province, Armenian minister of agriculture Sergo Karapetyan said on June 8.
According to him, the hailstorms destroyed from 20% to 60-70% of crops in these communities. The minister added that the hailstorms affected overall 45 communities of Armenia, but added that the overall damage is not great.
According to Karapetyan, 18 more new antihail stations were installed in Armavir region in addition to already 172 anti-hail installations. He said when prime minister Abrahamyan visited these communities farmers asked for help to restructure their loans.
"We have the prime minister’s instruction and are going to discus this issue with provincial administrations and Central Bank officials,’ said Karapetyan. -0-
