Government extends benefits to border communities until 2021

The Armenian government approved at a meeting on Thursday a set of amendments to the law on social support for border communities, providing for extension of a number of benefits to be granted to border villages until 2021.
YEREVAN, September 7. /ARKA/. The Armenian government approved at a meeting on Thursday a set of amendments to the law on social support for border communities, providing for extension of a number of benefits to be granted to border villages until 2021.
Territorial Administration and Development Minister David Lokyan said the benefits were to expire this year.
He said by amending the law, the government will continue to assist border communities. He said also about 17,000 households will receive 50% subsidies for payment of natural gas bills (360 cubic meters per year) and electricity bills (up to 1,440 kW / h).
He added that the households which cannot afford natural gas will receive a subsidy for electricity, equivalent to the price of 1,800 cubic meters of natural gas. Besides, the residents of the border communities will receive a 50% subsidy on irrigation water. -0-
