Civil defense shelters being improved in Armenia
YEREVAN, September 20. /ARKA/. Civil defense shelter improvement projects are being implemented across the country, Armenian Ministry of Emergency Situations reported.
It said records of shelters for the population are kept by the community administration. All information is summarized and sent to the city and district rescue departments of Yerevan.
On the instructions of the Minister of Emergency Situations, a group of fire and rescue units, accompanied by employees of local self-government bodies, regularly inspect apartment buildings, private houses and basements.
They photograph them, inform their superiors about the situation, and they, in turn, present the situation to the local authorities to eliminate the existing deficiencies.
Subway stations, underpasses, basements of schools and kindergartens also serve as shelters. Civil defense protective structures (shelters) are shelters that reduce the force of a shock wave. The importance of these structures is even greater in wartime conditions. -0-
