The birth rate in Armenia increased by 9.3% in January-February 2023 compared to the same period in 2022, according to the National Statistical Committee (NSC).

YEREVAN, April 6. /ARKA/. The birth rate in Armenia increased by 9.3% in January-February 2023 compared to the same period in 2022, according to the National Statistical Committee (NSC).

Some 5,867 babies were born in the first two months of 2023, up from 5,366 babies born in the same time span of 2022. Compared to the same period in 2021, when 5,533 babies were born, the increase amounts to 6%.

Some 61 cases of stillbirths were reported in the first two months of 2023, which is 22% more than in the same period of 2022 and 24.7% less than in the same period of 2021.

According to the statistics, 31 children died before the age of one year (10.7% less than in 2022 and 31.1% less than in 2021) and 38 children died under the age of 4 (11.6% less than in 2022 and 24% less than in 2021).

Overall, 4,543 people died in January-February 2023, down 23.2% from the same period in 2022 and 16.4% from the first 2 months of 2021. -0-
