Birth rate in Armenia decreases by 8% in 2024
YEREVAN, February 5. /ARKA/. The birth rate in Armenia decreased by 8% in 2024 compared to 2023. This is according to data published by the National Statistical Committee of Armenia. The decline in the birth rate has been observed since January of the previous year.
It is reported that 33,648 babies were born during the reporting period, while in 2023, there were 36,590 newborns. Of these, 17,614 were boys (compared to 19,220 in 2023), and 16,034 were girls (compared to 17,370 in 2023).
In the reporting year, 444 cases of stillbirth were registered, which is a 5% increase compared to 2023.
Overall, 25,576 people died in the country last year, representing a 5.2% increase compared to the previous year.
Furthermore, during the reporting period, there were 109.9 boys for every 100 girls (the sex ratio among live births), compared to 110.7 in 2023.
