Armenian prime minister adamant to reduce government corruption
YEREVAN, January 13. /ARKA/. Armenian Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan said today that low salaries of civil servants is one of the reasons behind corruption.

"The salary of civil servants should depend on the result of their work. Today  in the system  there are numerous corruption risks. Wages of civil servants are below the national median level. Therefore, this is a macroeconomic problem that must be solved.,"  said Karapetyan, adding, however, that there is no final solution to this problem.

‘The economy must develop, revenues and salaries must increase. In the end, we must create conditions for the system of state management that will enable us to  hire the best professionals. Today, the private sector has advantages in this matter, which we do not have. Definitely, we can do  this by streamlining our work", said Karapetyan.

He said that over the first 100 days of his premiership the government saved about 4 billion drams due to optimization of the state apparatus and shutting down a string of public non-profit organizations.

"These personnel cuts have logic as bloated apparatus increases the price of decision-making and even prevents their adoption,"  said Karapetyan. ($ 1-485.39 drams). - 0-
