Armenian PM presents plan of actions to modernize education system
YEREVAN, August 18. /ARKA/. By 2026, the government of Armenia is to build, renovate or overhaul at least 300 kindergartens, furnishing them with the necessary equipment, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said today, when presenting the government's action program for 2021-2026.
He said the goal is to educate civilized, creative, proactive, competitive citizens who see their future in their own country.
‘The progress of this sector is closely interconnected with the development strategy and priorities of the state," Pashinyan said.
According to him, under the program, by 2026 all classrooms across the country will be provided with modern infrastructure, an inclusive and developing environment, high-quality curriculum, teaching staff and a transparent and effective school management system.
“In addition, by 2026, modern laboratories for natural science and engineering will be created in all 1400 schools of the country, significantly improving the quality of education,” he said.
Pashinyan also noted that textbooks and training materials will be replaced in accordance with the new criteria. The level of media literacy, teaching foreign languages, in particular, Russian, English, French, as well as the languages of Armenia’s neighbor countries will improve noticeably.
“We plan to introduce a diversified policy of professional development of teachers, based on the needs of specific groups. There will be an opportunity to increase the salaries of all teachers by at least 30-35%,” the prime minister said.
“Ensuring a high-quality effect in the educational sector is impossible without the full availability of the network of services of preschool institutions. To this end, it is planned to continue work on expanding these services, improving their quality, creating an integral developmental environment for children, increasing the level of teachers' skills," Pashinyan summed up. --0--
