"We decided that at least until March 23 the educational institutions will be shut. On March 18-19, we will turn to this topic once again. If necessary, we will extend the closure," Pashinyan said during a live Facebook broadcast.

The Prime Minister said if possible, people should avoid participation in mass events, especially those citizens who have symptoms of coronavirus. "We urge people to be as cautious as possible, to avoid organizing events and participating in them, especially in cases when they have certain symptoms," Pashinyan said.

He said that the Interagency Commission, which coordinates the work to prevent the spread of coronavirus, is working on a daily basis and the government is ready at any time to review the decisions made.

"The main thing is that these decisions are as effective as possible," he said. He also called on the people who participated in an engagement party in the city of Etchmiadzin, (one of whom was infected with coronavirus), to self-isolate.

"The  task is to identify the people who took part in the engagement party and to determine the circle of people with whom the patient communicated. All citizens who participated in this event or contacted guests and who have symptoms, must isolate themselves," the prime minister said.

He also urged them to report this to state authorities so that the government could fully take control of the situation.
