Armenia's National Assembly has approved today in the second and final reading a set of amendments to the Code of Administrative Offenses and the Criminal Code, which raise the amount of fines imposed for damaging road infrastructure and violating the rules of their use.

YEREVAN, October 25. /ARKA/. Armenia's National Assembly has approved today in the second and final reading a set of amendments to the Code of Administrative Offenses and the Criminal Code, which raise the amount of fines imposed for damaging road infrastructure and violating the rules of their use.

According to the amendments, damaging roads, railroads, road-engineering structures entails a fine of 75,000 drams, up from the current 25,000 drams.

In case of causing light harm to a person's health as a result of these actions, the fine will amount to 90 thousand drams from the current 30 thousand drams.

Using roadside ditches for irrigation, polluting and damaging green areas and bridges entails a fine of 120 thousand drams, up from the current 40 thousand drams.

Repeated unauthorized placement of posters on roads of international importance will be punished with a fine of 150 thousand drams, and in the case of national roads – with a 30 thousand dram fine.

The amendments criminalize destruction or dismantling of road facilities, their unauthorized placement on roads, as well as creation of illegal security threats that result in moderate or severe bodily injuries. ($1 - $402.36 dram) --0--.
