Armenian government amends housing program for families relocated from Artsakh
YEREVAN, June 20. /ARKA/. The Armenian government has approved a set of changes to a program designed to provide affordable housing to families relocated from some parts of Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) to Armenia.
Gayane Karagyozyan, an advisor to the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs, said at Tuesday's press conference that the families, which meet the criteria set by the program, were provided with certificates for buying housing or building a private house on mortgage.
In this case, the government undertakes to pay monthly payments on the mortgage principal and interest for at least 10 years.
According to Karagyozyan, the duration of the certificates has been extended from 1 year from the date of receipt to July 1, 2024, regardless of the date of receipt.
'The size of pre-payment for buying house outside Yerevan has been reduced from at least 5% to 2.5%", she said.
Also, for those families, which have 4 minor children or which consist solely of those 65 years and older, the prepayment is reduced to 1%.
"Benefits have been established for families who will purchase property in 48 localities where kindergartens and schools have now been built or are under construction as part of subvention projects. For those who will buy property there, the assistance amount will be raised from 10 million drams to 12 million drams," Karagyozyan said.
According to her, since the launch of the program, 3,612 families have already received certificates and 820 houses (apartments) have been bought. The property was purchased in Yerevan (9 certificates), Artsakh (6 certificates) and Armenia's regions (rest of the certificates).
She said that the main reason for families not using the certificates is the lack of prepayment and a poor credit history. - 13% ($1 - 386.27 drams). -0-
