Armenia extends coronavirus quarantine until June 20, 2022
YEREVAN, November 11. /ARKA/. Today, the government of Armenia has extended the coronavirus quarantine until June 20, 2022.
The nationwide quarantine was first imposed on September 11, 2020 replacing the state of emergency that was declared on March 16 to stop the spread of coronavirus.
According to the government, both in the world and in Armenia, the pandemic situation remains tense. Over the past 14 weeks, 24,209 new cases were recorded in Armenia, up 72% from the previous two-week period, it said.
The government believes that such an acute situation requires not relaxing vigilance and continuing preventive measures in order to reduce the risk of the spread of infection.
"Given the tense situation associated with coronavirus infection, it is necessary to extend the preventive and anti-pandemic measures used during the quarantine period until June 20, 2022," the government’s decision says.
Armenian health officials have recorded 1,482 new cases of Covid-19 over the past 24 hours, saying the total number of confirmed cases rose to 325,521 as of Thursday morning. According to the National Center for Disease Control and Prevention, 36 people have died from Covid-19 during the past 24 hours. The total tally of such deaths is now 6,867. -0-
