Armenian Violin and World Heritage: Primavera Foundation and Novosti-Armenia launch a project that unites tradition and the future
YEREVAN, November 5. /ARKA/. The Armenian school of violin performance has gained significant international acclaim over the years. The names of composers such as Aram Khachaturian and Tigran Mansurian, along with violinists like Jean Ter-Merguerian, Sergey Khachatryan, Diana Adamyan, and Hayk Kazazyan, resonate on the foremost stages around the globe, and their exceptional skills consistently evoke a sense of pride within the nation.
The Primavera Foundation, in collaboration with the Novosti-Armenia news agency, is initiating a remarkable project that honors world-famous Armenian violinists and introduces an unprecedented event: the translation of a legendary treatise on violin performance into Armenian. A significant milestone has been reached in the realm of violin performance: Carl Flesch's renowned work, "The Art of Violin Playing," which has educated countless musicians worldwide, is now being published in Armenian.
"This book, authored by the distinguished violinist and educator Carl Flesch, rightfully occupies a prominent place among the most exceptional methodologies in the performing arts. Its breadth in addressing various issues is unmatched," stated Galina Davidyan, Director of the Novosti-Armenia news agency.
She emphasized that the textbook transcends being merely a compilation of rules for violin techniques. Its engaging language distinguishes it from other instructional materials.
"This specialized textbook will benefit generations to come." "In this instance, all Armenian-speaking educators and musicians will reap the rewards—that is my primary concern," remarked Elena Yakovleva, Director of the Primavera Foundation.
According to her, the concept originated following master classes conducted by German violinist Maximilian Simon in Gyumri. The translation and editing were performed by highly skilled professionals—professors Aram Badalyan, Armen Harutyunyan, and Nona Voskanyan. Carl Flesch's textbook, "The Art of Violin Playing," will be available free of charge for Armenian educators. A copy can be acquired by submitting an application on the Primavera Foundation website.
Yakovleva also emphasized that contemporary philanthropy extends beyond conventional charity. It represents a deliberate investment in the cultural future of the nation.
"A philanthropist in the 21st century is an individual who feels accountable not only for their business but also for society. They recognize that culture and music serve as a means to render a country recognizable and appealing to the global community," she stated.
This extensive initiative was executed by the Primavera Foundation with the backing of Apricot Capital, Balchug Capital, and The Amaryan Foundation.
