Armenia to introduce electronic summonses for compulsory military service

YEREVAN, April 12. /ARKA/. The Government of Armenia today approved the decision to introduce electronic conscription for compulsory military service.

Defense Minister Suren Papikyan said that citizens subject to call-up will receive electronic summons to the mailboxes, which they themselves indicate as the address for receiving official notifications.

The change involves creating a system to determine whether the summons has been viewed or not, he said.

At the same time, the minister said that if a citizen decides to receive notifications exclusively in electronic form, then from the moment of receipt of the summons he will be considered notified in the prescribed manner within 5 days after notification has been sent, regardless of whether he read the email or not.

Papikyan also said that if a citizen cannot be handed a paper summons or he refuses to accept it, then the public notification method will be used- the information about the summons will be published on the official website of public notices. After 10 days, the citizen will be considered to have been properly notified.-0-
