YEREVAN, September 27. /ARKA/. Armenia's Health Ministry is launching a pilot project designed to streamline and centralize emergency ambulance calls.

Minister Arsen Torosyan wrote in a Facebook post that currently when a resident of a region outside the capital city Yerevan dials 103 to call an ambulance by using their hand phones (except for VivaCell subscribers), the calls are accepted by the Central Ambulance Station in Yerevan, which only provides the caller the phone number of their regional ambulance service, and people are forced to make a second call.

According to Torosyan, as part of the pilot project, all ambulance calls made from Ararat, Artashat and Vagharshapat will go to the central station in Yerevan, from where they will be redirected to the corresponding regional station, thus eliminating the need for an additional call.

Torosyan said that after summing up the outcome of the pilot project, it will be extended throughout the country.

He also reminded that over the past two months, the ambulance stations in Yerevan and the regions have been reinforced with extra staff, which has significantly improved the time and quality of call service. -0-
