Armenia reports 276 new Covid-19 cases

Armenia reported today 276 new Covid-19 cases over the past 24 hours, bringing its total to 41,299, according to the National Center for Disease Control.
YEREVAN, August 14. /ARKA/. Armenia reported today 276 new Covid-19 cases over the past 24 hours, bringing its total to 41,299, according to the National Center for Disease Control.
Five people have died in the past day from the infection, raising the death toll to 814. All had pre-existing health conditions.
Another patient with a confirmed coronavirus was said to have died the day before, however, the death was caused by other reasons. The number of such cases is 239.
The center said also some 181,962 people have been tested for Covid-19 since the country reported its first case on March 1. Some 267 people were said to have recovered over the past 24 hours bringing the total to 34,164.
A 30-day state of emergency to curb the spread of coronavirus was declared in Armenia on March 16 and restrictions were imposed on free movement of citizens. The government banned also some types of economic activity. On April 13, the government extended the state of emergency for another month and on May 4 it lifted the ban on almost all types of economic activity and the free movement of citizens, except for public transport.
On May 14, the government has again extended the state of emergency for another 30 days. However, despite the extension, public transport, preschools, trading centers, restaurants and gyms have reopened starting from May 18, and wearing of masks has become mandatory in public spaces.
On June 12, the government has extended the state of emergency for another month- until July 13 and then again until August 13.
On August 12 the Armenian government extended the state of emergency by another month in order to maintain the current positive trend in its fight against the novel coronavirus. -0-
