The Armenian government intends to resume school classes in September, when schooling year begins, Deputy Prime Minister Tigran Avinyan told an emergency session of the parliament today.
YEREVAN, July 13. /ARKA/. The Armenian government intends to resume school classes in September, when schooling year begins, Deputy Prime Minister Tigran Avinyan told an emergency session of the parliament today.
Avinyan is also of a task force set up by the government to enforce the state of emergency declared on March 16 to stop the spread of coronavirus.
"Our task is to ensure that from September schools resume their work not on-line, but on the ground in compliance with certain rules,' he said adding that special rules are being developed for public education and several other sectors.
The state of emergency to curb the spread of coronavirus was declared in Armenia on March 16, 2020, and then was extended four times each time for a month. According to the decision of the government of July 13, the state of emergency was extended until August 12.
Despite the extensions, public transport, preschools, trading centers, restaurants and gyms reopened from May 18, and wearing of masks became mandatory in public places.
As of July 13, morning, there were 32,151 confirmed cases of coronavirus in Armenia; 573 people died from COVID-19 and 19,865 patients were cured. -0-
