Armenia to Allow Construction of Houses on "Four Hundred Square Meters": Restrictions Lifted
YEREVAN, April 8. /ARKA/. Armenia will allow housing construction on small plots of land smaller than 400 square meters.
"The restriction on residential construction on plots smaller than 400 square meters has been lifted. Citizens can now build houses on adjacent plots of up to 400 square meters designated for residential development, provided that proper entry and exit routes are maintained, fire safety requirements, the maximum percentage of plot development, and other urban development standards are met," the Urban Development Committee stated in a statement.
Thanks to the changes, owners of more than 45,000 small plots of land already existing in Armenia will be able to build homes on them.
The lifting of the minimum plot size restriction will also benefit compatriots displaced from Karabakh, who raised this issue at a meeting with the Armenian Prime Minister. Under the state housing support program for families displaced from Karabakh, they will be able to purchase land plots of up to 400 square meters designated for residential development and build individual homes.
The department also reported that lifting the restriction will allow for more flexible implementation of residential development programs, encourage families to settle in rural areas, and create more favorable conditions for attracting private investment.-0
