In Armenia, the birth rate has decreased by 5.4% during the period from January to July 2025 when compared to the same timeframe in 2024.

YEREVAN, September 5. /ARKA/. In Armenia, the birth rate has decreased by 5.4% during the period from January to July 2025 when compared to the same timeframe in 2024.

This information is supported by data released by the National Statistical Committee of Armenia. The reduction in the birth rate has been observed in Armenia since January of the previous year.

During the specified period, a total of 17,568 babies were born, whereas in the first seven months of 2024, there were 18,577 newborns.

Concurrently, there were 268 reported cases of stillbirths during this timeframe, reflecting a 13.1% decrease compared to the same period in 2024. In total, from January to July 2025, there were 15,065 deaths recorded in the country, which represents a 0.3% increase compared to the figures from the same period in 2024.

Consequently, the vitality index, which measures the ratio of births to deaths, stood at 116.6% for January to July of this year, in contrast to 123.6% for the same period last year. -0-
