Armenia's birth rate decreased by 4.6% in 2025, while death rate increased by 0.5%
YEREVAN, February 6. /ARKA/. In 2025, Armenia experienced a 4.6% decline in its birth rate compared to 2024, while the death rate saw a 0.5% increase. This information comes from the Statistical Committee (Armstat).
Birth Rate
Since January 2024, Armenia has been witnessing a drop in its birth rate.It was reported that 32,042 children were born in the country in 2025, down from 33,593 in 2024.
Additionally, there were 389 stillbirths recorded last year, which is a 12.8% reduction compared to 2024. The natural population growth rate fell by 20.6%.
Mortality
In 2025, the number of deaths reached 25,564. Over half of these deaths (51.3%, or 13,125 individuals) were due to circulatory diseases, marking a 2.7% decrease from 2024.
Neoplasms ranked as the second leading cause of death, accounting for 20.1% (5,148 individuals, a 2.1% decrease).
Other causes of death included respiratory diseases (10% or 2,557 individuals, an 8.2% increase), gastrointestinal diseases (4.8% or 1,224 individuals, a 7.4% decrease), external causes (3.8% or 967 individuals, a 6.1% decrease), endocrine diseases (2.1% or 553 individuals, a 24.5% increase), and infectious diseases (1.4% or 344 individuals, a 38.2% increase). -0-
