Armenia ratifies loan agreement worth EUR 45.3 million with Asian Development Bank to enhance quality of healthcare services
YEREVAN, September 11. /ARКА/. Armenia’s National Assembly approved today EUR 45.3 million loan agreement between the Republic of Armenia and the Asian Development Bank (ADB) aimed at improving healthcare quality.
Lena Nanushyan, the First Deputy Minister of Health, indicated that enhancing the quality of medical care necessitates reforms across all stages of quality assurance, particularly in infrastructure, human resources, and the e-health system, to ensure service availability and improve processes related to medical care quality.
"The loan program is designed to facilitate reforms in several areas, including the construction and modernization of medical facilities, evaluation of medical service quality, digitalization and institutionalization of the accountability system, licensing of medical institutions, development of human capital in the healthcare sector, implementation of a telemedicine pilot project, and enhancement of e-health tool utilization," Nanushyan remarked.
The Deputy Minister also mentioned that the loan carries a floating interest rate of 3.11%, with a maturity period of 18 years and a 7-year grace period.
As previously noted by Don Lambert, the ADB Resident Representative in Armenia, the Health Care Improvement Program is focused on modernizing 24 medical institutions, enhancing the capacity to deliver quality medical services, and improving monitoring and reporting.
